ATOME Energy stated that it plans to finish the front-end engineering design (FEED) of its Villeta green hydrogen project in Paraguay and commence construction in the first half of 2023.
In a statement released prior to the annual shareholder meeting in London, the AIM-traded company stated that it plans to hire a FEED contractor for Villeta by the end of the third quarter of this year and make a final investment decision on the project by the end of 2022. AECOM was hired earlier this month to oversee the project.
ATOME stated that it is also in advanced conversations with possible offtake clients, who have expressed “strong interest” in all of its anticipated Paraguay production, including 300MW from its second project in the nation, Itaipu/Iguazu.
In Iceland, the company reported “extensive conversations” with power suppliers and “extensive governmental support” for its hydrogen and ammonia projects.
The mobility division, which was established in February to serve the road transportation and shipping industries, has ordered its first 1MW electrolyser, which is expected to be delivered by the UK manufacturer by the end of this year or around the turn of the year, allowing for the possibility of first revenues in the first half of next year.
