The department director of the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Christian Storost, and Consul Petra Schaeber attended a meeting with representatives from the secretariats for the environment (Sema) and economic development (SDE).
Preliminary information from the Green Hydrogen Map of Bahia, a study done in collaboration with Senai Cimatec, was presented during the meeting. For example, priority areas in the state for investments in the production of green hydrogen, a component that is made without the burning of carbon and thus without the production of greenhouse gases, were identified.
The Secretary for the Environment, Eduardo Sodré Martins, spoke on behalf of the State Government and noted that the visit of officials from the German government demonstrated Bahia’s leadership in the globe with regard to investments in the production of renewable energy.
“Bahia has a huge potential to grow into one of the biggest green hydrogen economies in the world, with great production capacity and a consumer market in steel, agriculture, and industry. In order to support creative projects that place a priority on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Bahia’s environmental management seeks to strengthen collaborations and cooperation agreements, he said.
