Hydrogen production will begin at the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, according to Emil Alkhasli, Deputy Director General of the Refinery Modernization Project.
According to Alkhasli, as part of the refinery’s renovation and reconstruction project, equipment for hydrogen production will be installed.
“Hydrogen production equipment is expected to be operational in the second half of 2022. Additionally, units for the manufacturing of diesel fuel meeting the EURO-5 standard will be commissioned “he continued.
Azerbaijan also intends to begin producing diesel fuel compliant with the EURO-5 standard in the first half of 2022 and gasoline compliant with the EURO-5 standard in 2023, he said.
Alkhasli estimates that the upgrading work will last until 2026.
“By the end of 2023, the first stage of construction work on this project is expected to be completed,” he added.
