Vladimir Malinov, Executive Director of Bulgaria’s transmission system operator Bulgartransgaz, and Fernando Impuesto, Business Development and Diversification Director of Spanish operator Enagas, engaged in discussions regarding potential collaborations in hydrogen and liquefied natural gas (LNG) initiatives.
Enagas, boasting over 50 years of experience in energy infrastructure development, operates in eight countries, managing extensive gas pipelines, LNG terminals, and gas storage facilities. Meanwhile, Mr. Malinov unveiled a pilot project for green hydrogen production in Chiren UGS, emphasizing collaborative efforts with DESFA to shape future hydrogen infrastructures. This includes a proposed 250-kilometer hydrogen pipeline from Thessaloniki to Sofia, envisioned as a key transport corridor linking Greece, Bulgaria, and Central Europe.
The meeting underscored the significance of liquefied natural gas in securing Europe’s energy supplies. Mr. Impuesto expressed Enagas’ interest in expanding activities in the South-East European region, signaling potential growth and diversification.
