Cadiz and RIC Energy are collaborating to create a green hydrogen facility in California’s Mojave Desert.
This project will utilize Cadiz’s land and water resources, with RIC Energy focusing on producing entirely green hydrogen powered by solar energy. The strategic location at Cadiz Ranch allows access to intersecting rail lines, pipelines, and highways, enabling efficient distribution of green hydrogen across Southern California. This initiative aims to support zero-emission vehicles and clean power generation in the region.
The facility is designed to be fully off-grid and self-sufficient, spanning up to 3,000 acres with photovoltaic solar power. At full capacity, the facility will produce 50,000 kilograms of hydrogen daily. This will aid industries in transitioning away from fossil fuels. There are also plans for on-site electricity storage and facilities to compress and liquefy hydrogen for transport.
Cadiz Ranch is well-positioned for future expansion, with potential plans to develop hydrogen pipelines to the Los Angeles area. Cadiz will provide an annual water supply, ensuring sustainable operations. The project may also utilize the generated green hydrogen and solar power for its water operations.
