Cranfield Aerospace Solutions (CAeS) and MONTE Aircraft Leasing (MONTE) have signed a Letter of Intent to purchase 40 modification kits to convert Britten-Norman Islanders to hydrogen-electric power.

The agreement will provide sub-regional operators with funding and leasing options to help them transition to operating zero-emission aircraft. The necessary infrastructure for running the modified aircraft will also be included in the package. As part of the arrangement, Cranfield will become MONTE’s sole supplier of electric-hydrogen Britten-Norman Islanders and MONTE will become CAeS’ approved finance partner.

A strong and mutually beneficial partnership that will aid in the third aviation revolution is produced by the combination of CAeS’ 33 years of experience in the design and certification of complex modifications to aircraft, MONTE’s expert knowledge of the sub-regional aviation market, and both companies’ passion for decarbonizing aviation.

The agreement is a significant step toward MONTE’s vision to become one of the first zero emission aircraft lessors by 2027 and CAeS’ desire to create the first completely certified, zero-emissions hydrogen aircraft.
