Canadian Solar has launched Series 5 and Series 6 PV super-high power modules.

These new modules are to join the portfolios of HiKu, BiHiKu and HiDM, extending the range of high-power , high-efficiency monofacial and bifacial solar modules.

Series 5 portfolio – HiKu5, BiHiKu5

For a more powerful PV module, HiKu5 and BiHiKu5 can use Canadian Solar’s LeTID (light-and elevated temperature-induced degradation) mitigation technologies and power classes up to 500 W.

The HiKu5’s LeTID is 50 percent lower than the industry norm, available in both monocrystalline and polycrystalline cells.

Improved module efficiency, high power classes and leading PV module technology make it possible for the HiKu5 to reduce an installation’s LCOE by up to 4 percent.

Series 6 portfolio – HiKu6, BiHiKu6

HiKu6 and BiHiKu6 will have super-high power classes of up to 590 W and module performance of up to 21.3 percent, using advanced cell technology and module design from Canadian Solar.

Relative to standard 405 W monocrystalline modules, HiKu6 modules produce up to 2.7 percent higher energy efficiency over the lifetime of the module, reduce the cost of the BOS (system balance) by up to 5.6 percent, and reduce the LCOE by up to 4.5 percent, providing excellent value for large-scale installations.

Series 5 portfolio – HiDM5

The HiDM5 combines a sleek aesthetic design with the shingled-cell design and mono-cell technology from Canadian Solar.

The HiDM5 comes in power classes up to 405 W. The HiDM5 provides 37 percent higher rooftop system efficiency and 47 percent higher IRR from lower system costs compared to standard mono PV modules, making it an suitable platform for residential installations.

“Since I founded the Company in Canada 19 years ago, I am proud that Canadian Solar has become a leader in the development and deployment of the latest solar technologies. As reflected in today’s announcement, our commitment is to develop leading technology that will deliver more solar energy more cost-effectively.

“Our HiKu, BiHiKu and HiDM product ranges have always been at the forefront of PV module technology, and the launch of the new Series 5 and Series 6 modules is another important achievement as we continue to provide powerful, efficient and high-quality solar solutions.”

Dr. Shawn Qu, founder, chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar.
