The industrial and medical gases company Carburos Metálicos, part of the Air Products group, has participated in a test carried out with the Zaragoza City Council in Spain, which studied the circulation and refueling of a hydrogen bus.

Carburos Metálicos successfully contributed to the trial by supplying a portable hydrogenator to the Agreda Bus depot in the city, in addition to the supply of hydrogen used to fuel the Agreda Bus-owned vehicle.

The renewable hydrogen was produced in a plant that uses a Guarantee of Origin (GoO) program to verify its renewable origin.

During the ten-day test, the bus transported 972 passengers a total of 1,601 km between the center of Zaragoza and its airport terminal.

Stating that the test shows the maturation of renewable hydrogen technology, Miquel Lope, general manager of Carburos Metálicos, added, “We will continue to demonstrate some of our solutions that cover the entire hydrogen value chain, from production to supply and vehicles.”

These solutions include the development of the company’s hydrogen route, which runs through several Spanish cities such as Oviedo, Bilbao, Tarragona, Vallodolid and Zaragoza, and the supply of renewable hydrogen to a hydrogeneration plant in Madrid.
