thyssenkrupp nucera’s recent partnership with Cepsa marks a significant stride in Spain’s green hydrogen journey.
As the preferred supplier for Cepsa’s 300 MW electrolyzer, thyssenkrupp nucera brings its expertise in alkaline water electrolysis technology to the forefront. The partnership aims to design and engineer a state-of-the-art green hydrogen production facility in Palos de la Frontera.
With plans to deploy 15 scalum electrolyzer units, the project at La Rábida Energy Park is poised to produce up to 47,000 tons of green hydrogen annually. This endeavor aligns with Cepsa’s broader ambition to develop 2 gigawatts of green hydrogen capacity in southern Spain by 2030.
Situated in southern Spain, the project capitalizes on the region’s abundant solar and wind resources, positioning it as a competitive hub for green hydrogen production in Europe. Additionally, strategic port access facilitates hydrogen transportation, facilitating decarbonization solutions across the continent.
Cepsa’s initiative underscores its commitment to forging partnerships across the European green hydrogen landscape. By collaborating with thyssenkrupp nucera, Cepsa aims to accelerate decarbonization efforts and establish a robust European green hydrogen supply chain.
