Ceres Power Holdings PLC has been given money for two different ship emission initiatives as part of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition, which is sponsored by the UK Department for Transport.
Notes Grant Shapps, the UK Transport Secretary, has announced a total investment of GBP23 million in 55 winning projects to expedite the development, design, and construction of zero-emission vessels in British shipyards by 2025. Ceres is participating in two studies that will assess the most effective way to incorporate Ceres’ solid oxide fuel cell technology into megawatt-class cruise ship applications in order to minimize carbon emissions in the maritime industry.
Chief Executive Officer Phil Caldwell says: “Solid oxide fuel cells are one of the most promising clean energy technologies to support the decarbonisation of an industry that today accounts for over 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
