The airports of Christchurch and Hamburg have agreed to collaborate on developing green hydrogen for use in vehicles and airplanes.

According to Christchurch Airport CEO Malcolm Johns, “airports confront the issue of finding adequate technical storage alternatives when building a hydrogen infrastructure, but we are collaborating with Hamburg Airport to discover answers.”

In order to take advantage of synergistic effects, he added, “We both want to aggressively prepare for and promote the future usage of green hydrogen as an emission-free energy carrier in aviation.”
