Control Method for Hydrogen Fueling for Hydrogen Fueled Mobility

The groundbreaking patent titled “Control Method for Hydrogen Fueling for a Hydrogen Fueled Mobility,” filed on September 11, 2024, by Hyundai Motor, introduces an innovative approach to optimize the hydrogen fueling process.

The primary aim of this invention is to ensure efficient and safe fueling of hydrogen-powered vehicles, addressing key challenges faced in the current hydrogen fueling infrastructure.

One of the core aspects of the described control method revolves around the initial step of acquiring a measurement value. This value pertains to the current state of the hydrogen fueling system. These measurements could include pressure levels, temperature, or hydrogen flow rates, which are critical for assessing the fueling conditions in real-time. By accurately capturing this data, the system can make informed decisions to enhance fueling precision.

Determining the Need for a Second Control Command

The control method doesn’t just end with data acquisition. Based on the obtained measurement values, the system evaluates whether a second control command is necessary. This second command is crucial when the initial command executed on the dispenser side doesn’t suffice to maintain optimal fueling conditions. Such a dynamic evaluation ensures that the fueling process can adapt to varying conditions, thus preventing potential issues like overpressure or inefficient fuel delivery.

If the system determines that a second control command is required, it then proceeds to generate this command specifically for the hydrogen fueling station and/or the hydrogen-fueled mobility. This additional command is integrated to fine-tune the fueling process, ensuring that the hydrogen dispensing is precisely controlled to match the vehicle’s requirements. This approach significantly enhances the safety and efficiency of hydrogen fueling operations.
