DNV, an energy sector consultancy and assurance provider, announced that it will lead a process safety assessment to identify the biggest environmental, safety, and operational concerns for the world’s first offshore hydrogen production plants.
The Lhyfe-developed offshore hydrogen manufacturing facility, which will be fueled by electricity generated by a floating wind turbine, is expected to be operational in 2022 off the coast of Le Croisic at SEM-REV, Centrale Nantes’ offshore test site.
Lhyfe is a green and renewable hydrogen producer and supplier for transportation and industries. The SEM-REV offshore test site is managed by Centrale Nantes, a French engineering school and research institution.
“The ambitious goal of Lhyfe and Centrale Nantes is to demonstrate the reliability of an offshore electrolyzer in order to make offshore renewable hydrogen a reality. It’s a world first at a time when offshore green hydrogen production projects are springing up all over Europe “DNV stated the following.
DNV’s specialists will conduct workshops and technical sessions as part of the new facility’s design to identify and analyze the project’s primary environmental, safety, and operational concerns.
