Doosan hydrogen drones will take flight in the Netherlands, testing offshore solutions including drone delivery, marine monitoring, and search and rescue.
Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI), a South Korean company, has signed a deal with NHN (Development Agency Noord-Holland Noord, NHN), a regional development organization and governing agency in the Netherlands, for the METIP maritime economic development support project.
DroneQ Aerial Services, a METIP affiliate, will be the local drone services provider, operating Doosan hydrogen drones, as part of the METIP project. Doosan’s solutions include hydrogen fuel cell “powerpacks,” which enable commercial platforms to fly for more than two hours. Drone distribution, life-saving applications such as search and rescue, environmental monitoring, facility inspections, and reconnaissance will also be part of the projects.
Doosan has already assisted in the distribution of emergency relief supplies between islands separated by 70 kilometers in a partnership with the US Department of Health in 2019; and has customers all over the world who use their aircraft for commercial delivery of personal protective equipment, search and rescue, and gas pipeline surveillance. Participation in the METIP project in the Netherlands is expected to increase the company’s market share in Europe.
