EDF Renewables North America and Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC), have signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 100 megawatt (MW) share of the King Creek 1 wind project.
The King Creek project is scheduled to begin producing renewable electricity in Q4 2021.
The project is located in the western zone of the Texas Electric Reliability Council (ERCOT) market and was chosen by PEC under its 2020 RFP.
King Creek 1 will consist of 47 generators for wind turbines. It is expected that construction will commence by the end of 2020. During its peak, the project will generate approximately 300 construction-related jobs and will support the local community through land rental, tax, and other payments during its operational life.
