Egypt and Bavaria have signed a joint declaration to boost cooperation in renewable energy, focusing on hydrogen.

This declaration was signed in the presence of Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Bavaria’s Minister-President Markus Söder. It aims to cement ties between the two regions in the development and trade of low-carbon hydrogen.

Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with Egypt’s strategy for low-carbon energy production. The partnership between Egypt and Germany highlights green hydrogen and liquefied natural gas. The joint declaration covers the identification of production capabilities and the expansion of hydrogen logistics. It also involves advancing technologies for hydrogen production and fostering research and development in hydrogen production chains.

This cooperative initiative seeks to connect hydrogen producers in Egypt with technology providers in Bavaria and potential buyers in Germany. To move forward with the joint declaration, a working group will be established. This group will coordinate efforts and draft proposals, facilitating discussions with relevant partners to prioritize and explore practical outcomes.

The Bavarian State Office at the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Cairo will manage the coordination of this initiative. They plan to conduct regular reviews, with the first scheduled before the end of the year. This strategic collaboration aims to enhance bilateral energy ties and drive developments in hydrogen technology.
