Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has been briefed on the government’s endeavors to implement the national strategy for green hydrogen.

This strategic initiative, discussed in a meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineer Tarek El-Molla, outlines ambitious goals and a comprehensive action plan for the nation.

The overarching goal of Egypt’s national strategy for green hydrogen is to position the country as a global leader in the low-carbon hydrogen economy. This ambitious vision is not only aligned with the principles of environmental protection but also seeks to create employment opportunities, boost national income, and significantly curtail emissions. The strategy reflects Egypt’s commitment to sustainable development and aligns with the broader framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

During the meeting, hydrogen production scenarios were meticulously reviewed, emphasizing the need for a robust action plan at both executive and legislative levels. The discussions also delved into the essential procedures for building national capabilities in the realm of green hydrogen technology.

If successfully executed, this green hydrogen strategy could herald a new era for Egypt, transforming it into a key player in the global transition towards sustainable energy. The envisaged economic benefits, including job creation and increased national income, could serve as a catalyst for broader socio-economic development.

Moreover, the strategy aligns with environmental conservation efforts, aiming to reduce emissions and contribute to a low-carbon future. By reducing dependence on traditional petroleum products, Egypt aspires to play a pivotal role in global efforts to mitigate climate change.
