Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, met with James Jin, Regional President of LONGi’s MEA Region, in Cairo. During their meeting, they discussed the remarkable collaboration between Egypt and China in the electricity and renewable energy sector, highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial outcomes in Egypt’s renewable energy landscape.

Egypt boasts an abundance of natural resources, including ample sunshine and wind, surpassing many regions globally. Recognizing this immense potential, Egypt’s national strategy aims to achieve a 42% proportion of renewable energy in the country’s energy mix by 2035. In a bid to expedite this objective, the Egyptian government now plans to achieve it by 2030. Dr. Mohamed Shaker emphasized the importance of tapping into these resources to expedite the green transformation of the regional energy structure.

During COP27 last year, Egypt took a significant step towards a sustainable energy future by signing nine framework agreements on green hydrogen projects in collaboration with international companies. The goal is to establish Egypt as a prominent green hydrogen energy export channel, sharing its rich renewable energy resources with European Union countries. Alongside this, Egypt plans to enhance grid interconnections with European nations, optimizing the development and utilization of its own renewable energy sources.

James Jin, representing LONGi, expressed pride in contributing to Egypt’s energy structure transformation. LONGi, renowned for its focus on scientific and technological innovation, has established a comprehensive range of business segments, spanning from monocrystalline silicon wafers to hydrogen energy equipment. This wide portfolio enables LONGi to offer Green Electricity + Green Hydrogen products and solutions, aligning with global zero-carbon development initiatives.

As a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, LONGi is committed to providing advanced technology and product solutions to support Egypt’s energy transformation journey. By leveraging their expertise and capabilities, LONGi aims to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy sources, bolstering Egypt’s position as a leader in sustainable energy.

The meeting between Dr. Mohamed Shaker and James Jin signifies the strengthening ties between Egypt and LONGi, emphasizing the shared vision of a greener and more sustainable energy future. Through collaborative efforts and technological advancements, the partnership holds the potential to drive positive change in the renewable energy landscape, benefitting both nations and contributing to global sustainability goals.

In conclusion, Egypt’s ambitious green energy goals, coupled with strategic collaborations with companies like LONGi, pave the way for a brighter and cleaner future. The nation’s rich natural resources, combined with cutting-edge technologies, position Egypt as a key player in the global shift towards renewable energy adoption. As the momentum towards a greener world gains momentum, Egypt’s commitment to renewable energy and international cooperation marks a significant step forward in the fight against climate change.
