Electric Hydrogen Co. (EH2), a manufacturer of advanced, industrial-scale hydrogen electrolyzer technology, has announced the location of its first factory in Devens, Massachusetts.

The company has leased a newly constructed 187,000 ft2 facility and is now hiring production team members. The Devens factory will have an annual manufacturing capacity of 1.2GW, with production of EH2’s 100MW green hydrogen electrolyzers commencing in Q1 2024.

The main goal of Electric Hydrogen Co. is to decarbonize the world by producing green hydrogen, which is made by breaking the chemical bonds of water using renewable electricity. Green hydrogen can make an immediate impact on the global climate crisis. Industrial sectors such as fertilizer and steel need new ways to replace fossil resources at costs that work. Electric Hydrogen expects its technology to establish the standard for industry-wide cost reduction to make green hydrogen cheaper than fossil alternatives.

The machines that Electric Hydrogen will produce at its new factory in Devens will enable ultra-low-cost green hydrogen at an industrial scale. The company’s new factory will harness state-of-the-art technology and bright minds in Massachusetts to produce fossil-free hydrogen from water and renewable electricity. The factory will create jobs, help industries transition away from fossil fuels, and curb emissions.

Green hydrogen is a growth industry that has the potential to transform the energy sector. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), green hydrogen could meet up to 20% of global energy demand by 2050, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 6 billion tonnes per year. The IEA estimates that annual investments in green hydrogen could reach $500 billion by 2030.

Electric Hydrogen Co.’s new factory in Devens is a significant investment in the future of green hydrogen. The factory will help the company meet its backlog of customer orders and enable the production of ultra-low-cost green hydrogen at an industrial scale. The new factory will also help Massachusetts and the United States reach their ambitious decarbonization goals. EH2’s cutting-edge hydrogen electrolyzer technology will be critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and meeting climate targets.

EH2’s Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder, Dr. David Eaglesham, stated that EH2’s machines will have a transformational impact by enabling ultra-low-cost green hydrogen at an industrial scale. The company’s new factory will help EH2 establish the standard for industry-wide cost reduction to make green hydrogen cheaper than fossil alternatives. EH2’s Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, Raffi Garabedian, said that EH2 has a backlog of customer orders to fulfill and is moving quickly to build and ship the world’s most powerful electrolyzers.

In conclusion, the announcement of Electric Hydrogen Co.’s new factory in Devens, Massachusetts, is a significant investment in the future of green hydrogen. The factory will enable the production of ultra-low-cost green hydrogen at an industrial scale, help industries transition away from fossil fuels, and curb emissions. Green hydrogen has the potential to transform the energy sector, and EH2’s cutting-edge hydrogen electrolyzer technology will be critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and meeting climate targets.
