Emerson has become a member of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance (ECHA).
Hydrogen’s share of the energy mix in Europe is currently less than 2%, but has the potential to rise to 10-23% by 2050, according the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.
In joining the ECHA, Emerson will be at the forefront of hydrogen developments in Europe, thereby actively supporting the goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, as outlined in the European Union’s European Green Deal.
The ECHA was established by the European Commission in March 2020 as part of its new industrial strategy for Europe. Its aim is to bring together manufacturers, automation technology suppliers, public authorities and other stakeholders with a view to tackling climate change and benefiting the environment by accelerating the decarbonization of industry and the transition to hydrogen-based energy.
As a member of the ECHA, Emerson is committed to providing solutions to the challenges faced throughout the entire hydrogen fuel supply chain, including the need for expanded production, safe and lower-cost distribution, and reliable fuel cell operation. Emerson’s experience with key industry enabers such as electrolyzer original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will help to drive down costs and improve the scalability of hydrogen production, distribution and utilization.
