A customer from South Korea has ordered two AEM electrolysers with a combined capacity of 2 megawatts from Enapter and its partner YEST.

On Jeju Island, a 12.5 MW hydrogen pilot project will make use of the technologies. The demonstration project, funded with 62 billion South Korean won (43.3 million US dollars) from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Motie), aims to research and contrast the production of hydrogen using various electrolysis technologies.

Enapter is the only German or European provider of technology among the five businesses chosen for the project. The systems offered should be able to produce more than a thousand tonnes of green hydrogen annually. The company YEST, which has supported Enapter as an integration partner since 2021, will install the two AEM Multicore electrolysers as part of this groundbreaking initiative for South Korea.

Enapter has created a less expensive alternative to conventional systems with the AEM Multicore. This electrolyser has a daily capacity of about 450 kg of green hydrogen. On an industrial scale, production can be increased by operating multiple units concurrently.
