An important new partner has joined the project of the Australian business planning to build a 1.6GW renewable hydrogen production, transportation, and export hub in the Hunter region of New South Wales.
Energy Estate and Eurus Energy have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate together on the delivery of green hydrogen as part of the proposed $2 billion Hunter Hydrogen Network (H2N) project.
The MoU states that Energy Estate and Abergeldie will first work together to advance the H2N project’s incorporation of green hydrogen storage.
According to Mick Boyle, the founder and executive chair of Abergeldie, Ardent Underground was founded in 2019 to repurpose Abergeldie’s cutting-edge blind boring technology to tackle this specific issue. The building of purpose-built deep holes to store hydrogen and other gases underground is a specialty of Ardent Underground nowadays.
With a 1.6 GW project combining massive electrolysers and a shared hydrogen pipeline to the Port of Newcastle and other key Hunter areas, Energy Estate and Eurus Energy hope to create Australia’s first “hydrogen valley.”
