ExxonMobil and Linde have entered into a long-term deal for the off-take of carbon dioxide related to Linde’s new clean hydrogen production in Beaumont, Texas.

ExxonMobil would transport and permanently store up to 2.2 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide annually from Linde’s hydrogen manufacturing facility under the terms of the agreement, which is comparable to the emissions from almost 500,000 cars annually.

The construction, ownership, and operation of an on-site complex by Linde to deliver clean hydrogen and nitrogen to OCI Global’s new, large-scale blue ammonia factory was previously announced. The new Linde facility is scheduled to open in 2025 and will be connected with the company’s existing industrial gas infrastructure throughout the US Gulf Coast. Additionally, it will provide clean hydrogen to additional off-takers across the network, both new and old.
