Finland has issued a new tender titled “Engineering Consultant Services for Hydrogen Transmission Network (Trunkline) Investments,” published on December 6, 2024.
Interested parties have until January 10, 2025, to submit their proposals. This tender is a significant development in the hydrogen sector, reflecting Finland’s commitment to advancing its hydrogen infrastructure and supporting the transition to a sustainable energy future.
The key objective of this tender is to identify a qualified engineering consultancy to provide design services for the development of Finland’s hydrogen transmission network. This network, referred to as the “Trunkline,” is intended to facilitate the efficient and safe movement of hydrogen across the country. By establishing a robust infrastructure for hydrogen transmission, Finland aims to support the growing demand for clean energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The selected consultant will be expected to deliver comprehensive engineering design services that encompass route planning, technical feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and safety evaluations. These services are crucial to ensure that the hydrogen transmission network is not only effective but also complies with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
The establishment of a hydrogen transmission network is a pivotal step in scaling up hydrogen as a viable alternative to traditional energy sources. It provides the necessary infrastructure for a hydrogen economy, allowing for greater distribution and use in various sectors, including transportation and industry. The network will enhance Finland’s ability to harness hydrogen’s potential and contribute to reducing carbon emissions on a national and global scale.
