The Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has issued a new tender titled “Research Laboratory Services – Research Lab Use Fee,” with the tender publication date set for September 24, 2024.

The submission deadline for potential bidders is October 31, 2024. The primary objective of this tender is to secure access to research facilities equipped to handle sophisticated hydrogen research and development (R&D). This initiative aims to foster a collaborative environment where industry leaders, academic institutions, and government bodies can work together to accelerate advancements in hydrogen energy.

The tender requires applicants to demonstrate their technical capacity and expertise in hydrogen-related research, including experience with hydrogen production, storage, and fuel cell technologies. Successful bidders must also show proficiency in handling specialized lab equipment and conducting high-quality experimental research. The main goal is to ensure that the selected research facilities can support cutting-edge projects that will contribute to the growth and sustainability of the hydrogen sector.

Securing access to advanced research labs will enable more comprehensive studies on hydrogen production methods, including electrolysis and reforming techniques, leading to more efficient and cost-effective solutions. Additionally, research in these facilities can optimize hydrogen storage systems, addressing one of the major challenges in the hydrogen supply chain.

Applicants are required to have laboratories equipped with specific instrumentation such as gas chromatographs for analyzing hydrogen purity, high-pressure reactors for testing hydrogen storage materials, and advanced sensors for monitoring hydrogen levels in various environments. These technical requirements ensure that the research facilities can conduct detailed and accurate experiments, which are vital for developing next-generation hydrogen technologies.
