FORVIA has clinched a contract from a major clean energy technology company to supply Type IV hydrogen storage systems for heavy-duty commercial vehicles in the North American market.

The production is set to kick off in 2025, marking FORVIA’s second major award for hydrogen storage solutions in North America this year.

FORVIA’s latest achievement underscores its momentum in the hydrogen mobility sector, aligning with the global push to decarbonize transportation. The company’s commitment to providing best-in-class hydrogen storage solutions positions it as a key player in accelerating the transition to cleaner mobility.

The Type IV hydrogen storage systems, known for their efficiency and safety, are pivotal components in the hydrogen drive train. FORVIA’s extensive portfolio spans technologies across both hydrogen and battery electric vehicles (BEV), showcasing its versatility in addressing diverse mobility needs.

With the North American market showing a clear inclination towards hydrogen, supported by substantial investments such as the $7 billion from the Biden Administration for regional hydrogen hubs, FORVIA is strategically positioned to meet the evolving demands. The company’s storage systems cover a broad spectrum, ranging from heavy-duty vehicles to medium and light-duty trucks, and extend to applications beyond mobility, including the distribution and transport of hydrogen.

FORVIA’s strategic partnerships play a pivotal role in its expansion. Earlier this year, Stellantis joined FORVIA and Michelin as an equity partner in Symbio, a global leader in fuel cell development and production. With Symbio’s focus on fuel cell technology and FORVIA’s expertise in hydrogen storage, the collaboration covers 75% of the hydrogen drive train value.

Symbio North America, with notable successes in sustainable transportation, is a key player in the region. The recent inauguration of a facility in Temecula for hydrogen fuel cell vehicle power systems and assembly aligns with California’s carbon neutrality goals, showcasing a commitment to regional sustainability.
