French green hydrogen pioneer Lhyfe has secured a €149 million boost for its project near Le Havre.
This large-scale project, spearheaded by Lhyfe for over two years, aims to construct a green hydrogen production plant boasting a 100 MW electrolysis capacity. Located near Le Havre, a major European industrial port area, the facility is expected to produce up to 34 tonnes of green hydrogen daily. This clean fuel source will play a crucial role in decarbonizing industrial processes, particularly for neighboring Yara, a leading fertilizer manufacturer.
The French government’s substantial financial support underscores its commitment to France’s long-standing decarbonization strategy. This project was also selected by the French government as part of the third wave of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) on hydrogen, a program approved by the European Commission. IPCEI status highlights the project’s strategic importance for the European Union’s clean energy goals.
The Le Havre project presents a significant opportunity for Lhyfe to showcase its expertise and contribute meaningfully to France’s and Europe’s decarbonization efforts. The massive production capacity of 34 tonnes of green hydrogen per day directly addresses the need for clean energy solutions in the industrial sector.
