DBA to provide engineering services for Modena hydrogen facility

The contract for Engineering and Architecture services for the production of the feasibility project and the preliminary and final designs of a hydrogen supply facility adjacent to the SETA plant in Modena was given to the DBA Group subsidiary DBA PRO.

The contract was acquired by DBA PRO, which has a temporary joint venture with Nord Progetti (RTI share 30%) and provides for a value for DBA PRO of EUR 143,500.00 for the fiscal year 2023. The task, which is related to the initiatives supporting the Energy Transition, enables the business unit responsible for the company’s energy transition to make use of its historical expertise in the area of energy and fuel distribution while drawing attention to novel and environmentally friendly fuels.

Burghausen hydrogen research laboratory construction launches

The Burghausen hydrogen research laboratory’s groundbreaking was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder, MdL. The collaborative initiative in the Bavarian chemical triangle aims to serve as a “lighthouse project” for Germany’s whole chemical sector as it transitions to a hydrogen economy that is climate neutral.

Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder, MdL: “The center is part of our large Bavarian hydrogen strategy. Hydrogen is an important energy storage medium for the future and a basic product of industry. That is why we are increasing our support for the laboratory to a total of €26 million. Business and science are doing research here together on the transformation towards a climate-friendly and more independent economy with green hydrogen. The investment is also a signal of the support of the Free State to the companies in the chemical triangle. Good luck with the construction!”

DEWA hosts tour of World Hydrogen MENA delegation

A high-level delegation from the World Hydrogen MENA was escorted by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) on a tour of its Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the biggest single-site solar park in the world that employs the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. By 2030, it will be able to produce 5,000 megawatts (MW).

Several global hydrogen leaders who were part of the visiting delegation saw the solar park and learned about DEWA’s Research and Development (R&D) Center and Innovation Center. By lowering carbon emissions, these centres use innovation to create workable solutions to climate change.

The group was given a thorough explanation of the green hydrogen project that DEWA, Siemens Energy, Expo 2020 Dubai, and other partners carried out. In the Middle East and North Africa, it is the first to use solar energy to manufacture hydrogen. It stores the hydrogen and transforms it into electrical energy for use in other industries and the air, land, and marine transportation sectors.

Flowserve and Hydrogen Optimized partner on green hydrogen production

Flowserve and Hydrogen Optimized have signed an MoU to advance hydrogen production with innovative technologies and applications.

Hydrogen Optimized’s proprietary RuggedCell water electrolysers produce clean hydrogen at the lowest levelized cost at scale. They transform solar and wind electricity into green hydrogen using a high-power architecture that allows 50 MW+ single modules to meet the clean energy needs of big industrial applications including steelmaking, ammonia production, and e-fuels. Hydrogen Optimized will deploy Flowserve’s SIHI Liquid Ring Compressor with a RuggedCell system at its Ontario High-Power Demonstration Station under the Agreement.

Flowserve will also help select, specify, and standardise flow equipment to optimise the back end of hydrogen generation. Hydrogen Optimized hopes this partnership would speed RuggedCell commercialization. It will also allow Flowserve to analyse important product performance data, which should lead to a leading decarbonisation technology.

Lombardy Region nods funding proposals for green hydrogen in accordance with Pnrr

The ranking of appropriate and qualifying project proposals for funding for the production of green hydrogen from renewable sources in vacant industrial zones has been approved by the Environment and Climate Directorate of the Lombardy Region in complete accordance with the dates set by the Pnrr.

It is a component of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which intends to revive and develop long-abandoned industrial sites while simultaneously introducing the generation and distribution of a new zero-emission energy vector.

By authorising and posting the notice for the collection of applications by the concerned Lombard enterprises on January 19 and closing it on February 28, the Lombardy Region also cooperated with the Ministry’s request to launch this significant PNRR measure.
In order to use this energy vector for industry and mobility, 13 applications were received for the establishment of Hydrogen Valleys in various regions of the Lombardy region.

Green Hydrogen Systems hosts Danish prime minister’s visit

Danish Social Democrat Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen recently paid a visit to the Kolding, Denmark, factory that makes electrolysers for Green Hydrogens Systems.

The prime minister got to see firsthand how green electrolyser technology works by dividing water into hydrogen and oxygen with the help of renewable electricity. She was also given a tour of the pressurised alkaline electrolyser production line at Green Hydrogen Systems as well as several workstations along the way.

The skilled staff at Green Hydrogen Systems were given the chance to talk with the prime minister, who learned how they had modified and applied their knowledge and expertise from different fields to offer crucial talents to the Danish scale-up business with critical clean-tech production capacity.
