Hyvia and Plug puts hydrogen in spotlight at Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort

Hyvia and Plug are vying for attention during the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort due to the use of hydrogen in transportation. During the race weekend, Hyvia and Plug are both teammates with the BWT Alpine F1 Team. Last week, a Hyvia Master van traveled by car from France to Zandvoort.

The CEOs of Alpine, Hyvia, Plug, and Renault Group will be present for a discussion titled “Fueling the future with hydrogen” at the start of the Dutch Grand Prix to discuss sustainable mobility with hydrogen. As Alpine has already demonstrated with its Alpenglow concept car, hydrogen is also suitable for use in racing vehicles. “At Alpine, races—and Formula 1 in particular—serve as actual testing grounds for the technology of tomorrow. We may look at many possibilities for the hydrogen combustion engine, which is ideal for sporting purposes, thanks to Alpenglow. Future mobility is projected to depend heavily on hydrogen as an energy source. The forefront of this research must be Alpine,

RTC introduces hydrogen fuel cell bus

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada recently hosted a special ceremony to introduce the first hydrogen fuel cell bus in the state.

A $3.8 million award for “Low or No Emission” vehicles from the US Department of Transportation supplied the financing for the hydrogen fuel cell buses. Compressed H2 gas is used to power the buses.

KIB Plug acquires stake in Bumhan Motors

KIB Plug Energy stated that it would pay 16.8 billion won to acquire a 50% ownership (8 million shares) in Bumhan Motors. Its share of equity capital is 15.3%. The future business and management plan for the eco-friendly energy value chain, which was unveiled on the 18th, includes ambitions to seriously enter the electric and hydrogen bus industries.

In Haman-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, Bumhan Motors has manufacturing facilities for electric and hydrogen buses. The business emphasized that it is appealing for investment because it received all domestic manufacturing certifications from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport in September of last year. It intends to switch from the current SKD (Partial Assembly Manufacturing) technology to CKD (Complete Assembly Manufacturing), which should save costs and boost profitability.

British ERA receives hydrogen technology from Hyundai and SK E&S

Hyundai Motor Company and SK E&S provided knowledge on hydrogen vehicle development and hydrogen production technologies to ERA (Energy Research Accelerator), a British energy research agency. In an effort to break into the local market, Hyundai Motor Company and SK E&S are anticipated to take advantage of this conference to boost British hydrogen development.

A group from ERA, led by director Martin Freer, reportedly visited the Hyundai Motor Studio in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 13th of last month, according to ERA on the 25th. Under the direction of officials from Hyundai Motor, they experienced the real ‘NEXO’ hydrogen car and looked into the progress being made on commercial hydrogen vehicles.

The following day, they took a tour of SK E&S’ Incheon liquefied hydrogen plant and learned about the science behind hydrogen generation. The facility is the biggest in the world, with a 30,000-ton yearly manufacturing capacity. Starting in July 2021, SK E&S will invest roughly 600 billion won to create a 15,000-pyeong structure. The start of production is anticipated for November.
