Fusion Fuel Partners with Elemental Clean Fuels to Expand in North American Hydrogen Market
Fusion Fuel Green plc (NASDAQ: HTOO), a green hydrogen solutions company, has solidified a strategic partnership with Elemental Clean Fuels, a newly established development firm focusing on clean fuel projects in North America. This venture allows Fusion Fuel to bid on all PEM-based green hydrogen projects within Elemental’s North American pipeline for three years. With approximately 40 MW in pre-feasibility projects and plans for a 2 MW green hydrogen project in 2024, this partnership positions Fusion Fuel to tap into the emerging North American green hydrogen market. It complements the company’s commercial endeavors in the Iberian Peninsula and Northern Europe. Zachary Steele, CEO of Elemental, expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to serve small to midscale green hydrogen customers in North America.
Balfour Beatty Secures £240,000 Funding for Hydrogen Retrofit Project
Balfour Beatty, a leading construction company, has received more than £240,000 in funding from the Scottish Government’s Emerging Energies Technology Fund for their hydrogen fuel retrofit project. This initiative, which will see two gritters and two operations and maintenance vehicles retrofitted, is set to reduce carbon emissions from these vehicles by an estimated 40%. The trial will take place on the Connect Roads M77/Glasgow Southern Orbital project, marking Scotland’s inaugural hydrogen construction hub. Balfour Beatty plans to conduct quarterly progress sessions, and this project aligns with Scotland’s commitment to developing the hydrogen economy and reaching its net-zero emissions target by 2045.
SIEMENS Mobility Successfully Completes Tests of Hydrogen-Powered Train
SIEMENS Mobility has accomplished the first test runs of its two-car Mireo Plus H hydrogen multiple unit in Bavaria. These tests mark a significant step towards the train’s launch on Transdev-operated Bayern Regional Rail (BRB) routes between Augsburg and Füssen, and Augsburg and Peissenberg, scheduled for mid-2024. The pilot operation, supported by the Bavarian state, will run for 30 months and assess the train’s performance under various conditions. The results will determine the potential use of hydrogen-powered trains on additional Bavarian routes. SIEMENS Mobility aims to end diesel operations in the region’s local and regional rail passenger transport by 2040, with hydrogen propulsion as a key component. The Mireo Plus H offers sustainable rail solutions for non-electrified routes with a range of 1000-1200km on a single tank of hydrogen fuel.
