HyZEM project led by Freeport East gets £1.44 million from Innovate UK

The Hydrogen Zero Emission Maritime (HyZEM) project, led by Freeport East, is focused on creating green hydrogen technology for high-powered workboats that is low-carbon. It has been announced that the project will receive £1.44 million from Innovate UK and “a similar sum” from Australia’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

The project is being carried out by companies from the UK and Australia that specialize in green hydrogen storage and propulsion technology. Freeport East is a global freeport located in the East of England. “A targeted set of significant tax reliefs” is what the freeport at Felixstowe, Harwich, and Gateway 14 near Stowmarket offers.


MECON releases hydrogen tender

For the purpose of using hydrogen in the existing blast furnace, existing DRI vertical shaft, and current direct reduction iron (DRI) steel pilot plant, MECON Limited has released a call for bids. The deadline for submitting bids is July 8, 2024. CPSUs, state-PSUs, state enterprises, research labs, academic institutions, private sector organizations, Indian R&D institutes, and indigenous equipment design and manufacturing companies are all eligible to apply for the tender.


NTPC in discussions for green hydrogen joint ventures with HPCL and Hindalco

Two sources familiar of the development say that NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) is in discussions to deliver green hydrogen to oil refiner and marketer Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) as well as copper and aluminum manufacturer Hindalco Industries.

According to the sources, NGEL, a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, the country’s largest power producer, is in talks with HPCL, Hindalco, and other public and private sector enterprises about forming joint ventures (JVs) akin to the one it has with IndianOil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
