Victory Clean Energy to purchase Proton Power’s CHyP Engine

A legally binding term sheet to purchase Proton Power’s Cellulose to Hydrogen Power (CHyP Engine) system has been signed by Victory Clean Energy, a pioneer in the green hydrogen industry. With this method, garbage and biomass may be converted into cheap hydrogen. Comparing the new technology to classic electrolysis, Victory anticipates a 50% reduction in variable operating expenses.

Victory will be able to scale up hydrogen production in response to demand thanks to the modular CHyP engine, which will eliminate the need for transportation and storage. Furthermore, the technique uses very little electricity and is carbon neutral and energy-efficient.

Elcogen and AVL upscale SOEC technology for hydrogen production

Together with AVL, the Estonian solid oxide electrolyser (SOEC) manufacturer Elcogen is creating megawatt-scale modules for higher-volume green hydrogen generation.

Together, the two will use several Elcogen single SOEC stacks in a module to scale from small cell footprints to multi-megawatt modules.

According to the firms, these advancements will allow for the “industrial scaling” of solid oxide technology, which, when combined with external heat sources, is expected to be the most efficient form of electrolysis.

Kashi to evaluate potential of hydrogen fuel technology

The first entirely domestic hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel in India will be used in Kashi to evaluate the potential of hydrogen fuel technology in the marine sector.

The ship, which docked at the Multi Model Terminal in Ramnagar after arriving in Varanasi on July 14, will start a trial run in Kashi as part of a pilot initiative to showcase technology for the marine industry.

McPhy completes sale of hydrogen refuelling business

McPhy, based in France, has sold its hydrogen refueling business to Atawey, a fellow countryman. This makes McPhy the second maker of electrolysers in a year to divest its H2 filling station interests in order to concentrate only on electrolysis.

The pair announced that after exclusive talks for the agreement that started in December 2023, the sale of McPhy’s hydrogen refueling company for €12 million ($13 million) was completed in April of this year.

The agreement is set up as a loan; Atawey, an expert in hydrogen refueling, will take over the company in exchange for a payment of €1 million, with the remaining €11 million being paid back over the course of 18 months with interest.
