GE Renewable Energy has completed the construction and commissioning of 53 MW of Kirazli and 32 MW of Meryem wind farms in Turkey.
These two wind farms are part of a larger order made a year ago by Turkerler and RT Enerjito to supply five wind farms. In total, the five onshore wind farms (Kirazli, Meryem, Sile, Pamukova and Mahmut Sevket) comprise forty-nine of GE’s 3 MW onshore wind turbines, with a total capacity of 158 MW to supply renewable energy to the area, powering an equivalent of 183,000 homes.
The wind farm facility in Kirazli presented significant technical challenges, as the site is located at the top of the hill and at the end of a narrow, winding 20-kilometer rural road that crosses farms and villages.

GE has produced blades locally at its LM Wind Power wind turbine manufacturing plant in Bergama, Izmir, Turkey, with more than 450 employees.
