GE Vernova’s Power Conversion business and Next Hydrogen Solutions Inc. have joined forces, signing a memorandum of understanding to integrate Next Hydrogen’s cutting-edge electrolysis technology with GE Vernova’s power systems offerings.
The primary goal is to revolutionize the production of green hydrogen, a key player in the quest for eco-friendly fuels and ammonia products.
The collaboration between GE Vernova and Next Hydrogen aims to pioneer advanced power systems aligned with the upcoming generation of Next Hydrogen electrolyzers set to launch in 2024. This ambitious initiative is a crucial step toward driving the hydrogen revolution and contributing to decarbonization across various industries, including industrial gas, power, marine, and oil and gas.
At the heart of this partnership is the integration of GE Vernova’s power conversion technology with Next Hydrogen water electrolyzers. This integration provides the electrolyzers with direct current (DC) power sourced from renewable energy, including solar, wind, and hydro. The comprehensive approach includes DC power supplies, synchronous condensers, energy storage, motors and drives for compression and water, and controls with Energy Management (EMS). This ensures an efficient and reliable supply of electricity crucial for the electrolysis process.
Green hydrogen, produced with little to no greenhouse gas emissions, holds immense potential as a clean energy source. The collaboration between GE Vernova and Next Hydrogen positions them at the forefront of innovative green hydrogen technologies. This partnership not only addresses climate change but also promotes global energy sustainability, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
