Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote green hydrogen in developing and rising nations, including Indonesia.

Through the provision of technical assistance, the two organizations have committed to share knowledge and collaborate to establish collaborative initiatives.

Dr. Frank Rijsberman, Director-General of GGGI, and Mr. Jin-Yul Yang, Executive Vice President Hydrogen Business Division of KOGAS, signed the MoU at the GGGI Seoul offices. Under the terms of the MoU, the two parties will collaborate to exchange best practices for advancing green hydrogen production and consumption in GGGI Member nations, as well as examine the idea of exporting green hydrogen to countries seeking to decarbonize their economies.

“We believe that Green Hydrogen will be crucially necessary for the transition to Net Zero […] this will be a significant project involving member countries of the GGGI, such as Indonesia, Morocco, India, and Korea,” Dr. Rijsberman said during the signing ceremony.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement are both important to GGGI and KOGAS, thus they want to keep working together to achieve them.

Both companies’ strengths are recognized in the agreement. On the one hand, KOGAS contributes cutting-edge technical knowledge of green hydrogen production, while GGGI’s function as a neutral green growth counselor to more than forty countries around the world may help establish financially feasible green hydrogen projects.
