Greenstat, a notable renewable energy firm, has kicked off construction on a 20 MW green hydrogen production plant located at Fiskå in Rogaland county, Norway.

This innovative facility forms a significant part of the Agder Hydrogen Hub in Kristiansand, which Greenstat views with optimism and high expectations. Completion of this state-of-the-art plant is anticipated within the next two years.

The primary aim of the project is to supply green hydrogen to meet the growing demand in the maritime, heavy transport, and construction machinery sectors within the region by 2026. This development is crucial in supporting regional industries striving to reduce carbon emissions and adhere to sustainability goals.

This newly initiated project marks the first phase of Greenstat’s broader hydrogen hub strategy for Kristiansand. The company has already begun construction of the second phase, which could potentially expand the facility’s capacity by an additional 40 MW. These progressive steps underline Greenstat’s commitment to scalable and sustainable energy solutions.

Earlier this year, Greenstat acquired the project from Danish firm Everfuel and secured a lease agreement with Elkem for land use. This strategic acquisition and partnership set the stage for the project’s rapid development. Moreover, Greenstat and Everfuel had previously declared their intent to supply around 8,000 tonnes of compressed hydrogen annually to companies like Holland-Norway Lines, FFS Marine, and Arrive Shipping through Letters of Intent (LoI).
