Gainesville Regional Utilities and Origis Energy have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for FL Solar 6, a new, large-scale solar project of 50 megawatts (MW) coupled with 12 MW of energy storage.
Approving the initiative, City Commissioners in Gainesville, Florida, brought the municipality closer to achieving their target of 100 percent renewable energy resources by 2045.
FL Solar 6 is to be installed by Origis Energy in Alachua County, Florida.
FL Solar 6 is scheduled to be completed by late 2022. With the 50 MW turn-key solar plant online, GRU will be able to supply customers with solar without upward rate pressure.
