GS Engineering & Construction, the first local construction business to do so, will export components of plants that create green hydrogen.
The firm stated Monday that it has inked an agreement with SG H2 Lancaster LLC, a California-based energy company, to design, produce, and export components for a green hydrogen plant to be built in the state.
Some businesses have chosen to acquire modular plants — pre-assembled structures and components — and assemble them on the job site later. This enables businesses to save money, prevent delays caused by external variables such as weather, and reduce site labor and construction time.
When completed, the California factory will be able to produce 11 tons of green hydrogen each day.
Green hydrogen is regarded as the most environmentally benign energy source. It is created using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power and does not release any carbon.
Following the agreement, the business plans to construct comparable modular facilities for SG H2 Energy throughout Europe and North America, as well as a renewable energy facility in Ulsan that will begin construction this year.
