H2 MEET 2024, the largest hydrogen industry exhibition in Korea, will take place from September 25-27 at KINTEX in Goyang City, showcasing cutting-edge hydrogen technologies and promoting Korea’s regional hydrogen industry.

This year’s event focuses on fostering collaboration, sustainability, and global partnerships, aiming to position Korea as a global leader in the hydrogen economy.

At the core of H2 MEET 2024 are the ambitious regional hydrogen initiatives of various Korean local governments. Regions such as Gangwon, Gyeonggi, Ulsan, and Pohang will present their specialized hydrogen industry models and highlight their latest achievements.

Gangwon State Free Economic Zone Authority, for instance, is developing a hydrogen energy innovation cluster, while Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority focuses on creating eco-friendly mobility clusters. Pohang City will showcase progress from its hydrogen fuel cell cluster and its contributions to building a hydrogen-powered town.

Ulsan Free Economic Zone is working towards establishing itself as a hydrogen and low-carbon energy hub in Northeast Asia. Together, these municipalities represent the diverse ways Korea is advancing its hydrogen economy across industries such as transportation, fuel cell development, and clean energy production.

Carbon-Neutral Goals

H2 MEET 2024 takes a bold step toward sustainability by measuring the carbon emissions generated at the event, with plans to develop future carbon-neutral strategies. In a move that aligns with global trends, the exhibition will conduct visitor surveys to raise awareness and gather data on carbon neutrality. The insights will help shape carbon reduction goals for future events, as H2 MEET aims to transition to a fully carbon-neutral platform.

This sustainability initiative mirrors international efforts like those seen at Hannover Messe and CES, which have been pioneers in integrating renewable energy and eco-friendly practices into their exhibitions. H2 MEET is set to become a leading example of how the hydrogen industry can contribute to a sustainable future, both in Korea and globally.

The H2 Innovation Award

One of the highlights of H2 MEET 2024 will be the H2 Innovation Award, a prestigious competition designed to recognize the most promising hydrogen-related technologies. Ten finalists have been selected across three categories: hydrogen production, storage & transportation, and utilization. The award emphasizes innovation in green hydrogen production, advanced storage solutions, and cutting-edge fuel cell technologies.

Companies like UtilityGlobal and Mt.H Control Valves are among the finalists, representing breakthroughs in hydrogen reactor design and hydrogen flow control. The awards, which include cash prizes and promotional opportunities, will be presented during the exhibition’s opening ceremony.

Export Consultations

In its drive to connect the Korean hydrogen industry with global markets, H2 MEET 2024 will host export consultation sessions, attracting over 30 international buyers from regions including Europe, Japan, China, and India. These meetings offer Korean companies a platform to showcase their technologies and explore new business opportunities abroad.

Notable participants include Spain’s Acciona Nordex Green Hydrogen and India’s Adani New Industries Limited, both looking to partner with Korean suppliers. Kawasaki Heavy Industries will also conduct briefings on building a liquefied hydrogen supply chain in Japan, further emphasizing the global reach and impact of this year’s event.

Tech Talks: Exploring the Latest Hydrogen Trends

For those seeking in-depth knowledge on the latest hydrogen technologies, H2 MEET 2024 will feature its largest-ever Tech Talks, hosting international speakers who will delve into hydrogen production, transportation, and utilization advancements. Topics range from hydrogen leak testing and green hydrogen’s role in mobility to cutting-edge fuel cell innovations and large-scale electrolysis technologies.

Speakers from renowned companies like INFICON AB, TÜV SÜD, and Thyssenkrupp Nucera will share their insights, providing attendees with a comprehensive view of the hydrogen industry’s current landscape and future trends.

By promoting collaboration and sustainability, this year’s exhibition is poised to solidify Korea’s position as a hydrogen industry leader, while fostering the development of clean energy solutions that can transform industries worldwide.
