He shared insights on the event’s origins and the rapid development of the hydrogen industry in Korea.

H2 Meet, which started in 2019, was initiated by the Korean Automotive Association at the request of its new president. The event was designed to showcase the emerging hydrogen technology that many in the industry were initially unsure about. At first, there was skepticism within the automotive sector regarding hydrogen’s role in the future of transportation. Public concerns over safety also required a significant push to raise awareness and confidence.
More companies and industry leaders are getting involved, making H2 Meet an important stage for hydrogen advancements. Park noted that future exhibitions will see even greater participation, not only from local companies but also from major international players in the hydrogen sector.
One key focus for Park is fostering international collaboration. He’s actively engaging with foreign companies and embassies to ensure that Korea’s hydrogen sector can tap into global innovations. This global connection is crucial as the industry aims for carbon neutrality by 2050.
Looking ahead, Park is optimistic. He expects the hydrogen industry in Korea to continue expanding over the next five years, with more sectors, from transportation to energy, becoming involved in the push for a sustainable, hydrogen-powered future.
