In order to obtain green hydrogen, the Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA) and Atura Power signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Oshawa, Niagara, and Hamilton all host HOPA facilities. To reduce its own and its customers’ carbon footprints, HOPA is looking into using green hydrogen from Atura Power. In the Niagara Hydrogen Center on the Niagara River, hydrogen will be created.

When finished, Atura Power’s Niagara Hydrogen Centre will include a 20 megawatt electrolyzer system, making it the biggest green hydrogen facility in Ontario. By the second part of 2024, it is anticipated to be in operation.

Hydrogen with low carbon content will be a crucial weapon in the fight against global warming. Atura Power, an Ontario Power Generation (OPG) subsidiary, is in favour of the net-zero targets set forth in OPG’s climate change plan.
