In a pivotal step towards commercialization, Hopium has finalized the design of the commercial versions of its hydrogen fuel cell. This milestone also marks the initiation of prototype production.

After validating the dependability of the digital twin across all aspects, Hopium has optimized its 100KW and 200KW hydrogen fuel cells. Also, they have now started the manufacturing process of these commercial variants’ prototypes.

This progress denotes a significant shift in Hopium’s hydrogen fuel cell solutions development project. The design approach based on a complete digital twin showcased the precision and effectiveness of tools utilised and their capability to simulate particular customer requisites.

Hopium’s validated digital twin facilitated the finalization of the hydrogen fuel cell’s commercial range designs (100KW and 200KW), enhancing performance and durability before the production of physical prototypes.

This crucial headway is the fruition of dedicated efforts made by Hopium’s Research and Development teams hailing from the realms of aeronautics and the automotive industry. Their adeptness with innovative technologies like the digital twin, 3D simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing of built-in electronics and software is noteworthy.

With this validation, Hopium is now transitioned to the subsequent phase of production of the functional prototypes of fuel cells of 100KW and 200KW. For this, orders have been placed with loyal suppliers and associates. The first trials of a complete commercial system on the bench are planned for mid-2024, and road tests in H2-2024, setting the stage for trade at the onset of 2025.

Hopium is gearing to lay out its roadmap towards the commercialisation of its hydrogen fuel cell. To assist this, the company is reaping the support of Atlas Special Opportunities and also exploring new financing opportunities to strengthen its cash flow and hasten development.

Through its Research and Development, Hopium asserts its dedication to actively contribute to the energy transition. The firm is firmly committed to a greener world, convinced that hydrogen fuel cell technology is the key to decarbonising the heavy transport sector.
