Plastic Omnium and AVL have entered into a joint venture to develop high- and medium-power hydrogen systems.

Plastic Omnium’s new agreement will enable it to speed the commercial rollout of a range of hydrogen systems for usage in all car categories beginning in 2022.

These integrated future systems will be powered by EKPO fuel cells, a joint venture between ElringKlinger and Plastic Omnium. The agreement enables the partners to provide an integrated response to market demands, with entire systems ranging from 10 to 200 kW.

The alliance paves the way for commercial collaboration to deliver end-to-end fuel cell solutions to OEMs and fleet operators. Plastic Omnium and AVL will collaborate on marketing initiatives, with Plastic Omnium focusing on fuel cell systems and AVL on vehicle integration.
