At the Port of Montreal, the Quebec Stevedoring Company Ltd. (QSL) has acquired new hydrogen-powered equipment as a green option to cut pollution.

Gaussin, a European company, produced the hydrogen-powered equipment prototypes.

Gaussin has designed and developed vehicles and equipment for port and logistics operations in collaboration with Charbone Hydrogen.

The new equipment was bought as part of the Montreal Port Authority’s endeavor to replace traditional fossil fuels with alternative lower-carbon fuels and hasten the energy transition.

The Port of Montreal recently forged a three-way collaboration to boost Canada’s commerce corridor along the St. Lawrence River in order to speed up decarbonization and help global supply chains.

The St. Lawrence River serves as a gateway to and from the rest of the globe for a wide range of commodities, foods, and resources.
