At its MEG HP1 project in Northam, Infinite Green Energy has made substantial progress toward providing Western Australia’s first commercial-scale renewable hydrogen, including a hydrogen filling station.

Beginning in early 2024, MEG HP1 will expand the 11MW Northam Solar Farm to create up to 4 tons of renewable hydrogen per day for use in transportation.

By securing: All of the project’s remaining land, including extra acreage that gives the opportunity to quadruple output to 8 tons/day of renewable hydrogen, IGE has made substantial progress. A location with IGE offices, space for the proposed hydrogen refueling station, and storage for 8 hydrogen-powered vehicles that will presumably use the facility for back-to-base operations.

The first project in a collaboration between IGE and WA fuel distributor Refuel Australia is the construction of the hydrogen refueling station. Ampol Australia owns 50% of Refuel Australia, an Ampol distributor that runs 24-hour filling stations throughout WA and the NT.

IGE will collaborate with Refuel Australia to build the Northam refueling station, and Refuel Australia will run the station as a part of its network.
