Recognizing the exceptional potential of hydrogen for sustainable mobility, Tata Motors is expanding its projects in its home market.
The company has built a hydrogen refueling station and a test track in Sanand, Gujarat, to test hydrogen-powered buses. It has also recently developed a fuel cell demonstration vehicle project and built a dedicated fuel cell laboratory in the city of Pune.
Last year, Tata Motors won a major tender to supply 15 proton exchange membrane fuel cell buses to the Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
A lot of research
“We are conducting a lot of research on handling, on-board storage of hydrogen and solutions to make this technology as safe as possible,” said Rajendra Petkar, chairman of Tata Motors.
The automaker has also been working with the Indian government under the Technology Development and Demonstration Program (TDDP).
