Jenbacher 60Hz engines with a “ready for hydrogen” option to generate clean electricity will power Raven SR’s first waste-to-hydrogen facility.
INNIO announced that the S-Series hydrogen production plant would be powered and heated by its engines as part of the partnership with Raven SR at the sanitary waste site in Richmond, California, US.
The projected Richmond facility would use the Raven’s non-combustion process using landfill gas (LFG) to create hydrogen, which will be sold to power fuel cells in heavy-duty vehicles.
According to H2 View, the engines will enable Raven’s facility to produce a “substantial” quantity of its own power, hence decreasing demand on the Californian electrical system.
The project anticipates initially processing 99.9 tonnes of organic waste a day and producing up to 2,000 tonnes of hydrogen yearly when the S-Series goes online in the first quarter of 2023.
