For the “Power-to-Hydrogen-to-Power” project, INNIO has ordered two electrolysers with a total output of 2 MW from H-TEC SYSTEMS to convert green power into green hydrogen (H2) .
This is an important step in the implementation of the company’s sustainable hydrogen product strategy, according to which all new Jenbacher plants are already ‘H2 ready’. From 2025, the entire Jenbacher engine product line will be rolled out to run on 100% hydrogen. At the same time, the supply of green hydrogen at the Jenbach site is a milestone towards net zero for the site.
The
2 MW container system is being built on the site of the Achensee power plant belonging to TIWAG – Tiroler Wasserkraft AG. Subsidiary TINEXT will install the necessary compressors and storage terminals. Produced on-site, green hydrogen is a central component of the energy transition and will be transported by pipeline from the TINEXT compressor and storage terminal to his INNIO main production site in Jenbach.
With a system efficiency of 74%, H-TEC SYSTEMS’ two HIS PEM electrolysers will produce a total of up to 900 kg of green hydrogen per day. This amount is sufficient to operate a 2 MW Jenbacher H2 engine test bench. This means that in addition to solar power, batteries and hydropower, green hydrogen can supply green power and heat to the headquarters. INNIO shows how the energy transition works for industrial companies at the INNIO360 Energy Lab in Jenbach. “
