“Italy must be ready to seize the new opportunities,” said the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto during the Forum for Sustainable Intermodality.
The Minister asserts that it is past due for Italy to transition to biofuels and hydrogen.
After investing PNRR 3.6 million on hydrogen, the nation may generate the first e-fuel.
“To achieve the decarbonization objectives we have a toolbox full of contents. It is essential to have a modern gas network, with at least six or seven regasification terminals which are our contractual guarantee of having supplies. The same goes for the electricity grid which will have to be structured through Terna’s plan. With the PNIEC we will give the path to producing 2/3 of energy from renewable sources and the remaining part from gas” Pichetto said.
He considers mobility to be a component of the nation’s development. Modern railroads, ports, and airports all contribute significantly to Italy’s potential to lead the pack in achieving the 2030 and 2050 goals.
