The emergence of the first green hydrogen refueling infrastructure for recreational boating, spearheaded by the NatPower group, marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards sustainable mobility.
Under the initiative led by NatPower H, a subsidiary of the NatPower group, Italy aims to invest 100 million euros to establish at least 100 hydrogen stations within the next six years. With the ambitious goal of exporting this model to regions beyond the Mediterranean, the project holds promise for revolutionizing hydrogen mobility in marine transportation.
NatPower, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector boasting a pipeline exceeding 23 GW, has established NatPower H as the world’s leading operator for the production, storage, and refueling of green hydrogen. Fabrizio Zago, CEO of NatPower Group, envisions the creation of the world’s first hydrogen supply infrastructure tailored specifically for the recreational boating industry.
In a strategic move to integrate infrastructure seamlessly into the Mediterranean landscape, NatPower H has partnered with Zaha Hadid Architects to design ecologically responsible and visually stunning hydrogen stations. Embracing innovative yet low-tech solutions, these stations will utilize local materials and low-carbon cements to minimize environmental impact while celebrating the natural beauty and diversity of coastal regions.
